Coming soon: the e2compr port for MkLinux, currently under test on my home machine.

e2compr allows transparent file compression and decompression on ext2 filesystems. Features: - The user chooses what to compress, nothing is automatic. - Compression can be done in user space with the supplied utilities (e2compress) or in kernel space via a modified chattr. - best compression on large files could be achieved by patching e2fsprogs, still untested on my sistem.

Here are the files, based on an April 26 CVS snapshot:

Updated May 4, 1999

e2compr.tar.bz2 the patch and the utilities

mach_kernel.gz a precompiled Mach binary

vmlinux.bz2 a precompiled vmlinux

system.map.bz2 a precompiled System.map

Put them in the usual places and KEEP YOUR ORIGINALS!

These are development binaries and are expected to be unstable, even misbehave.
